Boeing’s EC-135C was powered by four TF33-P-9 turbofan engines which gave it a maximum. airspeed of 600 knots and a range of more than 5,000 miles. It was a versatile airframe with both tanker and receiver air refueling capability, a fact which allowed the unit to be virtually self-sufficient. The EC-135C was equipped with HF, VHF and UHF radios, the LFNLF Survivable Low-Frequency Communications System, the Air Force Satellite Communications System, MILSTAR, and HF/UHF low-speed data communications capability.
