In order to provide battlefield commanders with ISR support, the 224th MI. flies the MC-12S/EMARSS-S, a variant of the Beechcraft Super KingAir 350ER. The MC-12S is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney PT6A-60A full reversing turboprops producing 1050 shaft horsepower per engine. The MC-12S is not only an ISR aircraft, but a complete collection, processing, exploitation and dissemination system. The equipment onboard includes an electro-optical infrared sensor and laser illuminator/range finder, a ground exploitation cell, line-of-sight and satellite communications datalinks, along with distributed common ground system – Army enabled workstations and a robust voice communications suite.
